The Grainger family marked the opening of its second automotive dealership Thursday.

Grainger Nissan began operations earlier this fall and is located next to Grainger Honda on Chatham Parkway just north of the Interstate 16 interchange.

“Nissan is one of the most innovative auto manufacturers today,” said Bill Grainger, president of Grainger Automotive Group. “Combine the Nissan quality with our exceptional customer service, and I’m confident the people of our area will be well-served.”

The dealership is the second specializing in Nissans in Savannah. Vaden Automotive is the city’s other Nissan dealer.

Damon Grainger is the general manager of the Nissan store. His brother, Mark, will continue to head the Honda dealership and serve as the company’s vice president under his father.

The Graingers have been selling cars on Chatham Parkway since 1997. They moved their Honda store from Chatham Parkway and U.S. 80 to the current location in 2004.

The Graingers held a ribbon cutting for the new Nissan dealership Thursday. The company also made a “sizable” donation to Feed the Hungry of Savannah as part of the grand opening celebration. Feed the Hungry was founded in 2009 and serves the working poor of Savannah.

“This is a blessing, and it comes at the right time as we are about to kick off our holiday meals season where between now and Christmas, we feed over 20,000 families,” said the Rev. Carl Gilliard with Savannah Feed the Hungry.
