ELIZABETH DILLARD

New job title: Teacher:

Company: Calvary Day School

Duties: Dillard will teach the analysis of English literature and mastery of composition at all 9th grade levels as well as two classes of Spanish I and will implement the first Calvary student newspaper. She will assist with both Junior Varsity and Varsity softball programs.

Education: Dillard earned her master’s of fine arts in creative writing from the University of Baltimore and BA in journalism and minor in Spanish from the University of Georgia.

LAUREN JENSEN

New job title: Teacher

Company: Calvary Day School

Duties: Jensen will teach high school biology, incorporate hands-on lab activities and lead the high school science club.

Education: Jensen earned her master’s of arts in teaching from Point Loma Nazarene University in Bakersfield, Calif., and a B.S. in biological sciences from Biola University in La Mirada, Calif.

RICHARD HATCH

Duties: Hatch will implement the annual theatrical performance acting as faculty director.

Education: Hatch holds a master of ministry degree from Baptist Bible College and Seminary, Clarks Summit, Pa, and a BA in theatre from Messiah College, Grantham, Pa.

Duties: Nelson will teach four health units on nutrition, decision making, goal setting and an alcohol and drug awareness program.

Duties: Huang will teach the “Better Chinese” curriculum in grades pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.

Education: Huang earned a bachelor of science in engineering from Nanjing University, China.

Duties: Schumacher has implemented a faith-based curriculum for infants to three year olds, which meets or exceeds the Georgia Standards

Duties: Artalona will provide leadership and guidance to her team to drive operational efficiencies and keep up her team’s record of high performance.

Related work experience: Artalona has been a member of Page International’s Ocean Export Documentation team since she began with the company in 2011.

Education: Artalona has a bachelor of arts degree in international studies and anthropology from the University of South Carolina.

GARY STRICKLAND

New job title: Director of facilities

Company: Savannah Technical College

Duties: Strickland will plan and direct administrative and operations activities for the college’s facilities management operations.

Related work experience: Strickland was Savannah Tech’s assistant facilities director/project manager with more than 12 years of experience in the department.

Alderman elected to board

Savannah Mayor Pro Tem and Alderman Van R. Johnson II was elected to the National League of Cities board of directors during the annual Conference of Cities and Exposition in Seattle. He is also a national Board member of the Democratic Municipal Officials.

Kiwanis Club of Skidaway elects president

Melissa Emery has been elected president of the Kiwanis Club of Skidaway. Emery has been a member of the club for 10 years and has served in leadership positions for five years.

Lawyer elected to board of directors

Todd Baiad, a partner at Bouhan Falligant LLP with expertise in commercial litigation, has been appointed to the Georgia Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

Savannah’s Boating Club installed new officers at its Nov. 15 Change of Watch celebration. The new officers are:

Lawyer appointed to board

Kathy Horne, a partner at Bouhan Falligant LLP, was inducted as chair of the Historic Savannah Foundation Board of Trustees for 2013 and 2014. Historic Savannah Foundation installed a new executive committee and inducted new board members at its annual meeting on Nov. 21.

Lawyer honored

The American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Law and National Security selected Harry D. Dixon III as the winner of its 2013 National Security Law Student Writing Competition. The award was given for Dixon’s analysis of a topic in nuclear security law.
