Law firm’s offices win attention

Readers of “Above the Law,” a website that “takes a behind-the-scenes look at the world of law” have selected the offices of the Savannah firm of Bouhan, Williams & Levy as having one of the two “best law firm offices in America.”

The firm is headquartered in the Armstrong House at 447 Bull St., a structure featured in the movie version of “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.”

Finishing slightly ahead of Bouhan, Williams in the voting was 1-800-LAW-FIRM, a national network of legal experts, with a main office in Cleveland.

A reviewer for the website wrote of the Bouhan, Williams offices: “It’s completely gorgeous and unique among the rest of the submissions.

The decor is a little old-fashioned … but it’s undeniably beautiful and well-executed.”

“We are appreciative of this recognition and feel fortunate to work in such beautiful and historic surroundings,” said the firm’s Carlton Joyce.

Five stores to hold ‘block party’

Five local businesses will host a block party from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 29 at 6 E. Liberty St. to inaugurate and celebrate what they’re calling the new Creative District in Savannah.

The event will include live music and shopping with a focus on local fashion, art and textiles.

The block party is sponsored by stores located at or near 6 E. Liberty St.: Ollie Otson, a vintage fashion store celebrating its grand opening; Stitch, an alterations and design studio that specializes in fine alterations and custom clothing; Wild Fibre, a yarn and knitting studio; and Measure, a fabric parlor.

The Little Lady Belles, soft-form dolls designed and made in Savannah, will also be featured and available for sale.

“The community has been very welcoming to all our businesses, and we want to show our appreciation,” said Stitch owner Adrienne Cronberger. “It also gives us the opportunity to highlight local artists and support the creativity that is the heart of Savannah.”
