Savannah’s hospitals get an ‘A’
All three Savannah hospitals have received an “A” for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, an independent organization that strives to trigger giant leaps forward in the safety, quality and affordability of healthcare.
Memorial University Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Candler Hosptial received A grades in the hospital safety score that was calculated using publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors and infections.
Hospitals across the country were assigned an A, B, C, D or F for their overall safety.
The hospital safety score analyzes 26 measures to produce a single score that represents a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from infections, injuries and medical and medication errors.
To compare the local scores to regional and national results, go to www.hospitalsafetyscore.org.
