Landscape architecture firm moves to town
Verdant Enterprises, LLC, a full-service landscape architecture firm, has relocated from Walterboro, S.C., to 3 W. Henry St. in Savannah.
The firm has designed gardens, parks, and urban spaces across the Southeast and specializes in creative use of native plants, alternative storm water applications and custom hardscape design.
The company was founded by Savannah native Thomas Angell in 1996.

Ribbon cutting for new Cricket store
An official ribbon cutting will be held today for a new Cricket Wireless & XCell Communications store on Whitemarsh Island.
The event will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the new store at 4700 U.S. Highway 80 in Whitemarsh Plaza and will include prizes, food and music.

Hilton Head leadership class selected
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Twenty-nine area high school juniors representing the Lowcountry academic community were recently chosen to participate in Jr. Leadership Hilton Head Island-Bluffton. Class selection is based on a written application and a personal interview.
Chosen for the Jr. Leadership Class of 2013 are: Bluffton High School: Barbara Dinkins, B.J. Hill, Shelby Keating, Lexie Lowell, Amanda Maietta, Jack Neumann, Richard Snyder, Charles Waddell.
Hilton Head Christian Academy: Audrey Bensch, Mary Burke, Kevin Campbell, Alexis Evanofski, Lindsey Lane, Ben Likins, Emily Vaughan.
Hilton Head Island High School: Hannah Brink, Brynna Colella, Olivia Joslin, Abigail Marlin, Marshall McGarity, Leighton Smith, Heidi Stine.
Hilton Head Preparatory School: Cole Gardocki, Tory Henrichs, Megan Kelley, Logan Mallett, Julia Nahman, Forest Richardson and Greg Warren.
Re-opening party for Dawn’s Barber Shop
Dawn’s Barber Shop, 11215 Abercorn St., Suite 6, will hold a grand re-opening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 30 as part of a NuBarter social.
Dawn’s been in business 17 years and will take 100 percent barter for hair cuts. The public’s invited to stop by and bring business cards and a friend.
Non-members of NuBarter are invited to enjoy the event, which will include refreshments and door prizes.

Summer social series scheduled
The Tourism Leadership Council will hold the next event in its summer social series from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 23 at Uncle Bubba’s Seafood & Oyster House, 104 Bryan Woods Road.
The cost is $15 for members, $25 for non-members and includes one drink ticket and hors d’oeuvres.
