Savannah State, city to host business workshops

Savannah State University in partnership with the city of Savannah Community Planning and Development Office will host a series of entrepreneurship workshops at the Moses Jackson Advancement Center.

The workshops are designed for current business owners as well as anyone who may want to start their own business.

The sessions will be divided into a two-part series on social media for marketing and a five-part series on starting a business.

Social media for marketing will be held Thursday, Aug. 30 and Thursday, Sept.6, from from 6:30–8:30 p.m. The registration deadline is Aug. 27.

Starting a business will be held on consecutive Wednesdays, beginning Aug. 29, from 10 a.m.–noon or on Thursdays, beginning Aug. 30, from 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Registration deadline is Aug. 27, pre-registration is required and only Savannah residents are eligible. Classes will be held at the Moses Jackson Advancement Center, 1410B Richards St.

Composites manufacturer opens in Hardeeville

Hardeeville, S.C. — Tauri and Chris Duer have announced the opening of DUER High Performance Composites, a composites manufacturing company devoted to building technologically advanced composite components.

Chris Duer has contributed to projects such as the mainmast of the U.S. Navy’s newest aircraft carrier and Volvo Ocean Race Yachts for PUMA Ocean Racing.

New Tervis store opens in Savannah

Chamber hosts August business after hours

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce will host August Business After Hours tonight at ELA’s Blu Water Grille at One Shelter Cove Lane, Shelter Cove Harbour, Hilton Head Island.
