City accepting applications for home repairs
The city of Savannah’s Housing Department is accepting applications for the 2015 Minor Home Repair program, which provides home repairs through grants or loans to residents who meet specific income guidelines.
Applicants must be live in the city limits and occupy their house to be eligible for the program. Applications will be accepted until April 30.
The repairs and home improvements are mostly done by one of several volunteer organizations that provide training to challenged youth. Repairs may range from painting to installing a new roof.

LETR & Co. leaders chosen for publication
Eleanor Rhangos and Leigh Thomson, principals at Savannah-based LETR & Co., have been selected for publication in the 2015 LogoLounge, Volume 9 International Identities by Leading Designers Annual.
The annual competition is sponsored by Logo Lounge, an online logo reference database. The 2015 competition included more than 22,000 submissions, and entries were judged by a panel of brand identity experts.
LETR & Co. was recognized for the brand identity they created for Savannah Coffee Roasters and for New York-based Triscend NP.
Enmark health education series launches Tuesday
Nutrition experts Nathan Mikeska and Courtney Peterson will present “5 Strategies for the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood Obesity” Tuesday as the first lecture in the 2015 Enmark Encourage Health Education Series.
Mikeska is a certified health and wellness coach, and Peterson is certified health education specialist and wellness coach.
The presentation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the auditorium of the Savannah Morning News, 1375 Chatham Parkway. Local business sponsors will provide a healthy lunch.

Rape Crisis Center to host bar bystander training
On Monday, March 9, the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire will host its second ‘bar bystander’ training for local bartenders at by Bar Food, 4523 Habersham St.,from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
“Bar Bystander” is a national initiative that allow crisis center staff to connect with alcohol serving establishments and encourage them to take the pledge against sexual violence. Crisis center staff will conduct the training and will help employees of alcohol-serving businesses identify signs of risky customer-to-customer interactions involving large amounts of alcohol. Employees will also be trained on ways to reduce or eliminate dangerous situations.
