Friedman retains responsibility for shelter operations and for Operation New Hope, the jail dog partnership with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. Friedman is overseeing the development of a new shelter enterprise and will be its director. She also serves as the primary interface between the shelter and the local and national animal welfare community.
Related Work Experience: In 2010, Friedman left Asheville (N.C.) Humane Society to join the Humane Society for Greater Savannah as operations manager and was promoted to director of operations in 2012. Her animal welfare career began at Animal Advocates, Inc., a low-cost spay and neuter clinic in Dartmouth, Mass.

She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y. Her post-graduate education has focused on programs, workshops and conferences on leadership as well as numerous animal welfare topics.

She most recently served as a development officer for its major gift donors program and as assistant director of annual giving.

Alderman appointed to public safety committee
Savannah Alderman John Hall has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2015 Public Safety and Crime Prevention Steering Committee. This committee has the responsibility for developing policy positions on crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, municipal fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland security, domestic terrorism, court systems and gun control.
