Citi Trends reports jump in third-quarter sales

Savannah-based Citi Trends Inc. (NASDAQ: CTRN) reported Tuesday that total sales in the third quarter ended Nov. 1 increased 7.8 percent to $156.7 million, compared with $145.4 million in the same quarter a year earlier.

Comparable store sales increased 6.7 percent in the quarter.

Net loss was $2.2 million in the third quarter of 2014 compared with a net loss of $1.7 million a year earlier.

Selling, general and administrative expenses in this year’s third quarter included $1.7 million in expense related to a legal settlement, which had a negative impact on loss per diluted share of $0.07 in the third quarter of 2014.

Last year’s third quarter benefited from a pretax gain of $1.5 million on the sale of the Company’s former distribution center, which had a positive impact on loss per diluted share of $0.06.

Total sales in the first three quarters of fiscal 2014 increased 5.3 percent to $489.7 million compared with $465.0 million a year earlier.

Pooler ‘Park and Shop’ offered Saturday

The Pooler Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau is promoting what it calls “Pooler Park and Shop” to encourage shoppers to visit the community’s retail stores Saturday.

Shoppers can pick up a free “Pooler Chamber of Commerce special shopping bag” between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union, 102 Park Ave., and show the bag to participating businesses for a variety of discounts.

Participating businesses include BJ’s Beverage, Byrd’s Famous Cookies, Boots Unlimited, Buddy’s Home Furnishings, Dollar Trade, Gift Shop at National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, GNC, Goodwill Store, LIsa Lisa’s Gift Closet, Love to Party, NutriShop, Pie Society, Pretty & Peach Boutique, TailsSpin, Treasures, Vapor Trails and others.
