Gas prices up slightly in Savannah

Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have risen 4.0 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.27 a gallon on Sunday.

The national average has not moved in the last week and remains at $3.43 a gallon, according to gasoline price website SavannahGasPrices.com.

Prices Sunday were 10.0 cents a gallon higher than the same day one year ago and 11.5 cents a gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 14.1 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 11.0 cents higher than a year ago.

“Thanksgiving Day 2012 featured the highest ever daily average for the holiday, beating out 2011 by over 10-cents per gallon,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “The national average may continue to moderate slightly by Christmas, but I’m not expecting significant decreases or increases in the national average in the short term at this point.”

Wine & Fries set at Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire will host its annual Wine & Fries event in conjunction with its 25th anniversary celebration on from 6-9 p.m. Dec. 6, at the Ronald McDonald House, 4710 Waters Ave. Tickets are $50.

The evening will showcase three programs including the Ronald McDonald House, the Ronald McDonald Family Room and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.

Wine & Fries invites participants to pair a variety of red and white wines with fast food favorites, including French fries, hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Byrd Cookie Company will provide cookies, and NLAWS Produce will have fruits and cheeses. A Good Man, the Trainwrecks and Ricky Standard will provide entertainment.

Legislative reception tonight in Beaufort

BEAUFORT, S.C. — The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Legislative Reception is scheduled for tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Historic Beaufort Arsenal, 713 Craven St.

All local, state, and federal elected officials representing Beaufort County have been invited to the event. The state legislators will discuss the upcoming General Assembly. Business and civic leaders from throughout Beaufort and surrounding counties will join the chamber’s board of directors and other members at the event.

The chamber’s 2013 business agenda includes strategic initiatives in economic and workforce development, tourism, small business growth, military affairs and community vision.
