BETSY SMITH

New job title: Chief nursing officer

Related experience: She worked at Memorial University Medical Center as a senior staff nurse in the progressive care unit and later joined Dr. Richard J. Greco at The Georgia Institute for Plastic Surgery for eight years. She has served in several capacities at Effingham, most recently as the physician liaison.

Education: Smith received her bachelor of science in nursing from Georgia Southern University in 1997.

RICKY E. BECKER

New job title: Chief criminal investigator

Duties: Becker supervises 13 criminal investigators, who include ten investigators in the District Attorney’s Investigative Unit and three in the Child Support Recovery Unit.

Related experience:

Becker served as a deputy sheriff with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department for five and a half years. He relocated to Chatham County from Garden Grove, Calif., where he served with the city of Garden Grove Police Department for nearly a year and a half.

Education: Becker graduated from St. Leo University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in criminology. He graduated from St. Leo with an associate degree in liberal arts in 1998. Becker is a 1999 graduate of the FBI National Academy.

He was the past president of the Georgia Medical Society and has been practicing in Savannah since 1995 at Ear, Nose, & Throat Associates of Savannah, PC.

Education: Rashleigh obtained his fellowship in head and neck reconstructive surgery/sinus surgery at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. He graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and trained in general surgery and Otolaryngology Head & Neck surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

YANBO HUANG

New job title: Staff geotechnical engineer

Company: Terracon Consultants, Inc.

Duties:

Huang will be involved in the resolution of design problems and will assist in compiling the scope of work for both routine and more complex lab or field investigations to measure and sample physical and non-physical properties of soil from a geotechnical standpoint.

Related experience: Huang has a strong background in analytical analysis, experimental testing and numerical simulation and their applications to geotechnical engineering.

Education: Kepple is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, where she earned a bachelor of arts in architecture and master’s of architecture.
