Local coworking space ThincSavannah is teaming with five other southeastern cities to launch a new information-sharing online calendar for entrepreneurs. Called StartupPoint Calendar, the online resource will be the first in a series of crowdsourced tools that will connect startups with people and information in Atlanta, Charlotte, Asheville and Wilmington, N.C.

“We’re going to be helping connect local entrepreneurs and startup businesses with resources that they need whether it’s in Savannah or in the surrounding region … and give those startup businesses a greater chance to succeed,” said Caila Brown, ThincSavannah’s community manager.

The soft launch of the calendar coincides with Global Entreprewneurship Week, Nov. 17-23, connecting people in 140 countries through thousands of hosted activities. For its part, ThincSavannah will be plugging the calendar at its final “Year of the Local” party on Friday, Nov. 14, featuring local food, beverage, music and networking opportunities.

Brown said they plan to help local businesses set up their own resource profiles on the calendar, which she described as combining elements of Facebook with LinkedIn.

“We’re going to be targeting people at the Forsyth Farmers Market and people in the creative community as well,” said Brown.

The Atlanta-based StartupPoint was founded by Justin Sacks with the idea of creating a global network of smaller entrepreneur ecosystems, starting with those in the Southeast.

“StartupPoint’s focus is enabling those people who support entrepreneurs to become more visible and accessible to entrepreneurs,” said Sacks in a press release.
