Savannah’s foreclosure rate declines

Foreclosure rates in Savannah decreased for the month of August over the same period last year, according to newly released data from CoreLogic, a property information reporting firm.

The CoreLogic data indicate the rate of Savannah area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 0.72 percent for August, a decrease of 0.38 percentage points compared to August 2013, when the rate was 1.10 percent.

Foreclosure activity in Savannah was lower than the national foreclosure rate, which was 1.61 percent for August 2014.

Also in Savannah, the mortgage delinquency rate decreased. According to CoreLogic data for August, 4.10 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent compared to 4.84 percent for the same period last year, representing a decrease of 0.74 percentage points.

 

Job fair scheduled next week at Hunter

Hunter Army Airfield will hold its Fall Hiring Fair Tuesday on Oct. 28 at the Tominac Fitness Center, Bldg. 919, on the base.

The job fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to transitioning military personnel, National Guard members and reserve members and veterans and their spouses.

Registration is required, and potential job seekers may register at hunterfallhiringfair.eventbrite.com.

Local nonprofits may apply for Gaynor Fund grants

The Savannah Community Foundation Inc. is accepting grant requests local from nonprofit organizations for funding from the Alan S. Gaynor Fund held and managed by the Community Foundation.

Gaynor left money to the Savannah Community Foundation to create a fund to be used to benefit Chatham County. The Community Foundation oversees its allocation and distribution through a grant application and approval process.

Any nonprofit applying for funding from the Gaynor Fund must be a governmental or public charity and use the grant funds on a public project to benefit the people of Chatham County.

Proposals will be accepted until Nov. 15. To get a grant application, email grants@savfoundation.org or call 912-921-7700.

 

NAWIC to feature ‘How to Stop Time’

The Coastal Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) will feature a presentation called “How I Learned to Stop Time” during its monthly meeting Monday at the Exchange Tavern on Waters Avenue.

The presentation will be made by Eva Bowman, founder of BOLD Growth Inc.

Networking begins at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and end by 7:15 p.m.

The cost is $20 for members and $30 for guests, which includes dinner.
