‘Underwater’ homes in metro Savannah decline

In the Savannah area, 14.6 percent, or 8,052, of all residential properties with a mortgage were in negative equity as of the second quarter of 2014 compared to 18.5 percent, or 10,116 properties, in the first quarter of 2014, according to CoreLogic, a property information provider.

The CoreLogic report indicated an additional 5.4 percent, or 3,006 residential properties, in metro Savannah were in near negative equity for the second quarter of 2014 compared to 6.0 percent, or 3,254, in the first quarter of 2014.

Nationwide, nearly 950,000 homes returned to positive equity in the second quarter of 2014, bringing the total number of mortgaged residential properties with equity in the U.S. to more than 44 million.

Borrower equity increased year over year by approximately $1 trillion in the second quarter of 2014, according to the CoreLogic analysis.

 

LETR & Co. wins seven Graphic Design USA awards

Eleanor Rhangos and Leigh Thomson, principals at LETR & Co., have announced the firm has won seven American Graphic Design awards.

The annual awards program sponsored by Graphic Design, USA, recognizes design excellence across the design community nationwide. More than 8,000 entries were submitted for the 2014 competition with only 15 percent gaining recognition.

LETR & Co.’s awards were for a logo design for Savannah Surfaces Old World Tabby product line’ a logo for the Coastal Empire Trading Company; and numerous package design awards for Savannah Bee company for lip glosses, hand cream, strengthening hair care and other body care products.

 

Toastmasters to host open house

Savannah Toastmasters will hold an open house on Oct. 6 to celebrate 65 years of service to the Savannah Area. During this celebration, club 705 local special guests and Toastmasters will be speaking.

Experienced Toastmaster members will e in attendance to answer any questions you may have.

The event will include light hors d’oeuvres, and Chocolat by Adam Turoni for dessert. It will start at 6 p.m. in the Medical Education Auditorium at Memorial Health Medical University Center (across from Georgia Eye).

Door prizes will be awarded. Admission is free.
