Gas prices going down in metro Savannah
Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have fallen 1.5 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.25 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.
The national average has fallen 3.4 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.34, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Prices Sunday were 8.9 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 4.8 cents a gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 8.1 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 15.0 cents lower a year ago.
“As expected, fuel prices nationwide continue to decline following the expiration last week of the EPA’s ‘summer blend’ gasoline requirement,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski.
Kroger to add 2,000 employees in Atlanta Division
Kroger stores have announced they are hiring 2,000 permanent employees across its Atlanta Division, which includes eleven stores in the Savannah area.
The grocery retailer currently employs more than 28,000 people in the division — Georgia, eastern Alabama and South Carolina.

Kohl’s to add 67,000 seasonal employees
Kohl’s department stores (NYSE: KSS) have announced they anticipates hiring more than 67,000 employees nationwide this holiday season.
Kohl’s announcement said the firm anticipates hiring an average of 50 associates per store at its 1,163 stores in 49 states. In addition, the company anticipates hiring approximately 9,300 seasonal positions at distribution centers across the country and approximately 670 seasonal credit operations positions.

Wal-Mart to hire up to 95 people in Statesboro
Wal-Mart will hire up to 95 employees to work at the new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market slated to open this winter in Statesboro. A temporary hiring center has opened at 1098 Bermuda Run Road.
