Wright Security celebrates 25th anniversary
Savannah-based home and office security provider Wright Security Systems, Inc. is celebrating 25 years in business.
Wright Security specializes in the design, installation, service and monitoring of security and fire alarm systems and offers video recording and in-home automation for residential and commercial markets.
Founder Noel B. Wright III said the company began as a way of helping family and friends.
“It has evolved to give our neighbors and other Savannah residents access to the latest technology in business, home and personal security,” he said.
The company monitors more than 700 residents and businesses in Savannah and the surrounding area.
Insurance company receives commendation
Long-time Savannah independent insurance agency Bernard Williams & Co., last month received a plaque and letter of commendation from the Utica National Insurance Group headquartered in Utica, N.Y.
The plaque commemorates a 25-year relationship in mutually serving clients of the agency.
“We understand that passing a milestone like this together takes a great commitment to our shared business and service to our mutual customers,” Utica’s chairman and CEO, J. Douglas Robinson wrote in a letter dated July 15.
Utica National Insurance Group was founded in 1914 and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
Bernard Williams & Co., established in 1934, is still locally owned and operated.
Nominations open for business awards
The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce is calling for nominations for its 2014 Business Awards, which will be presented at the Business Awards Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 9.

Each year the chamber honors businesses and individuals representing all major sectors in the Savannah area’s economy – small business, industry and tourism. The awards include Entrepreneur of the Year; Environmental Excellence Award; Gulfstream Manufacturer Community Involvement Award; Helen V. Head, Small Business Advocate Award; Hospitality Business of the Year Award; Safety Awards; Small Business of the Year and World Trade Center Savannah International Business of the Year.
The Business Awards Luncheon will take place before the Chamber’s Business Expo on Oct. 9 at the Savannah Civic Center. Networking for the luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the luncheon will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $40.
