Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House, the Whitemarsh Island restaurant co-owned by celebrity chef Paula Deen and her brother, Earl W. “Bubba” Hiers, is for sale.
The asking price: A shade under $4 million, y’all.
The restaurant, which has been shuttered since it closed abruptly April 3, was at the center of a storm of negative publicity last year after an Uncle Bubba’s employee filed a lawsuit against both Deen and Hiers alleging racial and sexual discrimination.
The claims and lawsuit were eventually dismissed.
The property, listed by Savannah commercial real estate firm Gilbert & Ezelle, is described as a 10,000-square-foot waterfront restaurant on 3 acres. It’s most recent tax assessment puts the property value at $1.5 million. It was acquired in 2004 by Brother & Sister Enterprises LLC for $1.4 million, tax records show.
“With extensive parking and panoramic views of Turner’s Creek from the main dining room, (this is) a rare opportunity to own or lease a turnkey restaurant,” the brochure touts, adding that the offering includes all furniture, fixtures and equipment.
