Armstrong praised for cyber crime program

Armstrong Atlantic State University’s online cyber crime graduate certificate has been recognized as one of the nation’s best programs by Forensics Colleges.

Armstrong is featured as one of the “7 Top Cybercrime & E-Discovery Certificate Programs” on a list of universities offering cutting-edge cybercrime and e-discovery certificate programs.

Criteria used to determine the list of top programs include notable faculty, learning experiences, support and accessibility.

Armstrong launched the program in the fall of 2013.

Boy Scout awards to be made today

James Gamble, a financial professional with New York Life, will receive the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Award today during the second annual mayor’s award luncheon held by the Coastal Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America to benefit boy scout outreach programs.

Gamble will receive the award from Mayor Edna Jackson, who was the 2013 winner, during the luncheon at Woodville Tompkins Technical & Career High School.

The award recognizes outstanding service and demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds.

Alton Wright, Dorothy Drayton and Jill Phongsa will receive the Good Scout Award for three years of work in the writing and publishing of ‘100 Years of Scouting in the Coastal Empire | 1910-2010,’ the council’s new book outlining the history of scouting in the Coastal Empire.

Savannah nonprofit to get AmeriCorps position

Habitat Savannah has been awarded one AmeriCorps member position and is looking for qualified candidates to serve locally during the 2014-15 service year, which begins in July.

AmeriCorps, often referred to as the domestic Peace Corps, is a network of national service programs that engage more than 80,000 Americans each year. It’s funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

The AmeriCorps member serving with Habitat Savannah will help building and repairing Habitat homes.

NAWIC anounces May 28 networking night

Coastal Georgia National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) will hold a networking night Wednesday, May 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Savannah Wine Cellar, 5500 St., in the Twelve Oaks Plaza shopping center.

The event is designed to encourage members to network among themselves and as well as with prospective members and their guests from a variety of construction-related companies.

Guests are responsible for purchasing own wine sampling card.
