Jamie Deen to speak at awards luncheon

The Savannah Downtown Business Association has announced that Jamie Deen will be the keynote speaker at the 2012 Celebration of Service Luncheon.

Deen, the son of Paula Deen, regularly appears on his mother’s cooking shows and his own show “Home for Dinner with Jamie Deen” airs on The Food Network. He and his brother Bobby have published four books and created a line of spices, BBQ sauces and T-shirts, all sold at the Paula Deen store and on the website.

Each year the SDBA recognizes employees who exemplify excellent customer service. The STAR (Service That Always Rocks) nominees are invited to a luncheon in their honor, and one will win the Ron Higgins Memorial Award.

The 2012 luncheon, presented by Wet Willie’s, will take place Nov. 14 at 45 Bistro in the Marshall House, 123 E. Broughton St.

A business expo will start at 11 a.m. followed by the awards program at noon. The cost is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. For exhibitor information, contact Mark Thomas at mark@thethunderbirdinn.com or 912-232-2661.
