Mortgage company opens Savannah office

San Diego-based Guild Mortgage Co. has opened a branch in Savannah as part of a planned expansion in the Southeast.

Brenda Harden, who worked with Brand Mortgage before joining Guild, will be the manager at 349 Mall Blvd., Suite 220.

Harden said Guild has studied the Savannah region and is optimistic about the economy and the local housing market.

Guild Mortgage has more than 200 branch and satellite offices in 20 states and generated loan volume of $7 billion in 2013.

Rack Room Shoes opens in Pooler

Rack Room Shoes is scheduled to open today in The Village on Pooler Parkway with a 6,000-square-foot store that marks the North Carolina-based retailer’s fourth Savannah-area location.

“Rack Room Shoes is a trusted retailer in Savannah, and we’ve had numerous customer requests for an additional location that services the west side of the city,” said regional manager Kevin Stimson.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Georgia Heritage hosts spending management seminar

Georgia Heritage FCU members and the public are invited to attend Manage Your Spending Plan,” a free educational seminar slated for April 15 at the credit union office.

Richard Reeve, director of financial education with Consumer Credit Counseling Service, will provide information and “how-to” tips such as getting organized, setting financial goals, maximizing income, prioritizing expenses and reducing debt.

The seminar will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union, 102 Park Ave., just off Pooler Parkway. Seating is limited, and a light meal will be served. To reserve a spot, call 912-236-4400.

Kroger raises money to fight muscular dystrophy

Kroger’s Atlanta division is urging customers to support its annual fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which runs through March 29.

Customers can buy $1 or $5 shamrocks to help the Atlanta division reach its goal of raising $250,000. Donations will help the MDA send thousands of young patients to summer camps and provide comprehensive health care, medical equipment, wheelchairs, support services and clinics to those affected by the nearly 40 forms of neuromuscular diseases.

“We are fortunate to be a part of this important fundraiser and to assist in providing services that help children and adults live longer, fuller lives,” said Kroger spokesman Glynn Jenkins.

Kroger has 11 stores in the Savannah metro area.
