Georgia Heritage FCU will open its third branch today in the Stephenson Executive Center on the corner of Stephenson Avenue and Habersham Street.
The 3,216-square-foot space includes four offices, six teller stations, two drive-thru lanes and a separate drive-thru lane for the ATM.
Formed in 1940 as Union Bag Federal Credit Union to serve the needs of Union Camp employees, the credit union’s name was changed in 1999 to Georgia Heritage when Union Camp Corp. was sold to International Paper.
In 2006, the credit unit received a community charter conversion to make it available to anyone who lives or works in Chatham, Effingham and Bryan counties. The corporate offices are still housed in the branch located on International Paper property at 1085 W. Lathrop Ave.
A second branch was opened in Pooler in 2012.
“With assets over $80 million and more than 8,000 members, we are pleased to open our third location in Chatham County, making us very convenient for our members,” said President/CEO Dale Taratuta.
The grand opening of the Stephenson branch will be held on April 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Regular hours will be Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday lobby hours until 5:30 p.m. and drive-thru until 6; Saturday drive-thru only from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
