Savannah native Sara Lane has been hired for the newly created position of director at Visit Tybee, the tourism marketing entity for Tybee Island, Georgia. In this role, Lane will oversee a staff of three as well as all tourism-related marketing, promotions, advertising and social media.
“Sara has an extensive business background and began her career in the tourism marketing arena. She brings a wealth of experience to the position and will be a nice addition to our team,” said Joseph Marinelli, president at Visit Savannah.
Lane is an alumna of Savannah Christian Preparatory School. She graduated from Georgia State University and has served in a variety of business-to-business positions in the Atlanta area. Lane’s tourism career began with marketing positions at the Georgia Aquarium and the Marietta Welcome Center and Visitors Bureau.
“We are pleased to welcome Sara back to the Savannah area and to the Visit Tybee team. We are hopeful that her sales and marketing experience will help us bring new tourism business to the island and set the direction for the future,” said Keith Gay, chairman of the Tybee Island Tourism Council.
Visit Tybee recently unveiled a new logo and marketing campaign, with a new website set to launch this year. Lane will focus on promoting the brand and attracting visitors from Georgia and the U.S. with the new campaign.
“Being from Savannah, I’m looking forward to getting back to the coast. Tybee Island has truly evolved into a year-round visitor destination and I look forward to becoming part of the team,” said Lane.
