Boat show scheduled for convention center next week
The 12th Annual Savannah Boat and Outdoor Show will be held March 7-9 at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center.
“We will have nearly 50 different boat brands available to buy and the dealers and manufacturers offer exclusive deals at this event,” said organizer Jacqui Bomar.
Professional fisherman Mike DelVisco will host two seminars on Saturday — “Cranking up Springtime Bass at 1 p.m, and “A Little Finesse: The Power of Finesse Tactics” at 3 p.m. They’ll be repeated on Sunday at noon and 2 p.m.

The Army Bass Anglers Coalition will host a kids fishing tank where kids can play for a $2 donation. All proceeds benefit Urban Hope Savannah and the Army Bass Anglers Coalition.
Hours are noon to 6 p.m. March 7; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 8 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 9.
Tickets are $8 adults, $5 for military with ID and $4 for children ages 4-12.
Parking is $5.
Harvey’s stores to be sold in Statesboro, Vidalia
Two Harvey’s stores in Statesboro and one in Vidalia will be sold to Homeland, an Edmond, Okla.-based grocery chain, as part of a deal for Bi-Lo Holdings to buy substantially all of the Sweetbay’s, Harvey’s and Reid’s supermarkets from the Delhaize Group. Homeland’s stores carry the Food World banner.
Bi-Lo also will sell a Harvey’s in Sylvanis to W. Lee Flowers and Co., which operates as KJ Markets IGA.
As part of the deal, Bi-Lo agreed to sell 12 stores in markets where it already has operations.
The deal is subject to final approval by the Federal Trade Commission after a 30-day comment period.
Averitt earns carrier of year from Wal-Mart
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Averitt Express, a transportation provider that services the Savannah area, has been named Wal-Mart’s LTL Regional Carrier of the Year for the third straight year.
“We’re honored when customers like Wal-Mart feel that our efforts are worthy of recognition,” said Gary Sasser, Averitt’s president and CEO. “This is truly a team effort, and we’re proud of how our associates continue to rise to challenges and follow through on our commitments to our customers.”
Averitt is one of several regional LTL carriers that provide transportation from thousands of vendors to Wal-Mart’s distribution centers.
