Bank opens Statesboro mortgage office

The Coastal Bank has opened a mortgage loan production office in Statesboro at 1100 Brampton Ave., Suite L.

“We believe that Statesboro has a strong, growing residential mortgage market, and we’re looking forward to being a part of the area’s growth,” said spokesman John J. Stahl III.

Mortgage loan originator Kelly Kahley will work out of the office.

Kahley is a member of the Statesboro Board of Realtors and past president of the Statesboro Service League.

Roundtable to hear World Trade Center exec

The Savannah/Hilton Head Roundtable will hold a dinner meeting and networking social Feb. 27 at the Crosswinds Golf Club, 232 James B. Blackburn Drive.

Registration and networking will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the dinner and program from 6-7:30 p.m.

Leigh Ryan, director of trade services and Foreign Trade Zone 104 for Savannah World Trade Center, will discuss how the Savannah WTC and a foreign trade zone designation can bring value to a business.

Cost is $30 for members and educators, $35 for nonmembers and $25 for students.

Farmers market returns on Wilmington Island

The Wilmington Island Farmers Market will return on March 1, and run through June 28.

Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Islands Community Church, 111 Walthour Road.

Additions will include: Story time for children from 10-10:30 a.m.; a special guest from 10:30-11:30 a.m.; a musical guest from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first, third and fifth Saturdays of the month; a guest chef from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month; and arts and crafts the first weekend of the month.

Neighborhood group accepting grant applications

Community-based organizations are invited to apply for grants from the Downtown Neighborhood Association to improve the quality of life in downtown Savannah, defined as north of Victory Drive.

Grants are awarded for beautification and improvements; arts and cultural life; and humanitarian causes. Most grants will range from $1,000 to $2,000.

The deadline to apply is March 1. Awards will be announced at the association’s annual spring picnic in May.

More than $20,000 was awarded in 2013 through funds raised by the Savannah Holiday Tour of Homes.
