Savannah area gas prices basically flat

Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have fallen 0.6 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.22 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.

The national average has increased 1.6 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.28, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Prices Sunday were 28.1 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and 5.2 cents a gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 1.9 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 26.8 cents lower than a year ago.

New date for health and wellness fair

A health and wellness fair at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church has been rescheduled for Feb . 19, after an earlier bad weather postponement.

The event, to be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Bailey Hall, 54 Diamond Causeway, is free and open to the public. It will feature local physician groups and health care educators who will offer a variety of screening and educational resources.

Magazine recognizes Inn at Harbour Town

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Inn at Harbour Town at The Sea Pines Resort is ranked No. 2 on Hilton Head Island and No. 5 in South Carolina by U.S. News & World Report in its 2014 “Best Hotels in the USA.”

The 60-room Inn also has received “Four Diamond” and “Four Star” ratings from AAA and Forbes and TripAdvisor’s “Certificate of Excellence.”

Event to benefit Savannah Harbor Foundation

The Savannah Harbor Foundation will hold its inaugural gourmet seafood, spirits and music celebration at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa on April 25-27.

The event, named “AquaCurean,” will showcase seafood and hand-crafted spirits from Savannah and around the country and will include competitions for seafood recipes and hand-crafted cocktails.

Foundation chairman Mark Spadoni said the event will take the place of the PGA Champions Tour Legends of Golf Tournament as a weekend event in 2014.

The golf tournament was discontinued after 2013 when its primary sponsor dropped out.

The AquaCurean website, www.aquacurean.com, will launch on Feb. 15.
