Richmond Hill and Bryan County officials gathered with medical personnel for the ribbon-cutting of the SouthCoast Medical Group Medical Campus on Wednesday morning.

John Marrero, administrator of SouthCoast Group, said the ribbon-cutting represents phase one of what he said will be an ever-growing facility.

“You may not be aware that this building represents the first step. We have purchased the entire campus here, and we see, as Richmond Hill grows, a tremendous opportunity to invest, and continue to invest, to create a full-service medical campus here in Richmond Hill,” Marrero said.

Initially, services offered at the facility at 89 Interchange Drive, former location of Jump N’ Jacks Family Fun Center, will include primary care, walk-in visits backed by imagining and laboratory support.

During the next few months, a full-time OB/GYN will become part of the staff, as well as visiting specialists, including a cardiologist, Marrero said.

“We don’t think we are going to be able to stay here all that long without developing additional space because of the support we’ve gotten in the community,” Marrero added. “We see this as just the beginning. We are very excited about the opportunity to fill out this whole building with a full set of medical services. Our goal in the long run is to provide a place for members of the community to come and receive a full set of outpatient services to meet all their needs, including high-end imagining services as well as a number of different specialties to serve the patients.”

Bryan County Commissioner Carter Infinger said the facility and its staff represent not only service but convenience to area residents.

“To have a group of physicians under one roof is exciting, not to the city but to the county as well,” Infinger said. “Now we can all come to one place, instead of having to go all the way into Savannah. I think people forget that you have 20 or 30 miles to go see your physician. Now we have all these talented physicians right here under one roof.”

The 10,000-square-foot SouthCoast Medical Group campus in Richmond Hill will be home to Drs. Gary Fischer, Edward Hoffman, Douglas Perry and Regina Dandy.
