Step Up Savannah’s executive director quits
Daniel Dodd-Ramirez, executive director of Step Up Savannah Inc., announced Wednesday he’s resigning to accept a position in Washington, D.C.
Dodd-Ramirez has been with Step Up since it was launched in 2005.
“Daniel has provided steady leadership while directing the growth of this organization beyond the community’s original expectations,” said John Wills, Step Up board chairman.
In his resignation letter, Dodd-Ramirez wrote, “I have worked with Step Up Savannah for almost nine years now, and it is with much pride that I leave a strong organization with a truly excellent, dedicated and professional staff.
Dodd-Ramirez’s last day will be March 4.
Apprentice program recruiting for job-training program
Step Up Savannah’s Chatham Apprentice Program is looking for applicants for the next “E3: Educate, Empower, Employ” job training program, scheduled to start on March 3 and run through March 27.
The training is free to adults 18 and older through a partnership among Chatham County, Step Up Savannah Inc. and other organizations. Anyone without a high school diploma or GED is encouraged to apply, but the program is open to anyone who is unemployed or underemployed.
Graduates will get one-on-one coaching and help with their job search.

Medical Center named to hospital group’s honor roll
East Georgia Regional Medical Center, a 150-bed acute care hospital in Statesboro, has been named to the Georgia Hospital Association’s Partnership for Health and Accountability Core Measures Honor Roll.
East Georgia Regional is one of 23 Georgia hospitals to be placed in the presidential category, one of the highest on the list. The honor roll is based on clinical data provided by the federal Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services, which administers the nation’s Medicare and Medicaid programs. The data was collected from July 2012 to June 2013.
Job training, placement for transitioning military
Georgia Tech Professional Education’s Veterans Education, Training and Transition (VET2) program will hold an interview and information workshop for veterans and transitioning military at 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Georgia Tech-Savannah campus, 210 Technology Circle.
The interviews are for potential job placement through the VET2 program with an employer in Brunswick. Qualified applicants may be asked to continue the interview process.
