New cable TV video platform launched
Comcast has announced the launch of its new X1 video platform for customers in the Savannah area.
Using cloud-enabled technologies, the X1 Platform provides access to Comcast’s library of live and on-demand video presented with a new on-screen guide along with popular apps such as Facebook and Pandora.
The new DVR-enabled X1 boxes enable customers to record four shows and watch a fifth at the same time using AnyRoom DVR service that allows customers to watch recorded shows in any room, start watching a recording in one room and then finish in another or have different recordings play in different rooms at the same time.
The X1 Remote app lets customers control X1 via motions, gestures and voice control.
In addition, X1 lets customers search through tens of thousands of programming choices using either their iPhones, iPod Touches virtual keyboards or voice commands.

Four-diamond hotels identified in Savannah
A list of Savannah four-diamond hotels named by the Auto Club Group that ran Thursday in the Savannah Morning News was incomplete.
The list should have included Kehoe House, Mansion on Forsyth Park Hotel and Spa, Autograph Collection, The Bohemian Hotel Savannah, Riverfront, Autograph Collection, The Gastonian and The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa. Statewide, 34 hotels and 12 restaurants in Georgia earned Four or Five Diamond Rating during the past 12 months.
Four-diamond facilities in Savannah also include Andaz Savannah, Ballastone Inn, Foley House Inn and Hamilton-Turner Inn.
Bar/restaurant to open in Richmond Hill
The Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. today for Flashback, a new restaurant and bar at 10010 Ford Ave., across the street from The Savannah Bank.
An open house will follow the ribbon-cutting.
Owner Billy Jenkins said Flashback will offer live music every Friday and Saturday evening.

Bicycle plant means 175 jobs for S.C. county
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Bicycle manufacturer Kent International is building a new plant in Clarendon County to supply Wal-Mart with its first U.S.-made bicycles.
The company said it will invest nearly $4.5 million in a facility expected to create 175 jobs.
Domestic production of the bikes will allow Kent to deliver them to Wal-Mart stores 90 percent assembled, saving assembly time in the stores.
Kent is also a major supplier to Toys R Us, Amazon and Academy Sporting Goods.
