Architects honor SCAD Museum of Art

The SCAD Museum of Art has received the 2014 American Institute of Architects National Honor Award for Architecture, an award for new buildings given annually by the organization.

“The building illuminates a dialogue between art and architecture, interior and landscape, preservation and urbanism,” said Christian Sottile, AIA, design architect for the building and dean of the SCAD School of Building Arts.

The SCAD Museum of Art project team designers include SCAD President Paula Wallace, Senior Vice President Glenn Wallace, Sottile and Sottile, Lord Aeck & Sargent and Dawson Architects.

Breaking ground in 2010, the Museum of Art was the largest rehabilitation project in SCAD history.
