Mall to feature ‘environmental’ Christmas tree
A 50-foot Christmas tree decorated with environmentally friendly LED lights will debut at the Savannah Mall on Friday with the tree-lighting festivities set for 7 p.m. in the Center Court.
Georgia Power Co. officials will be on hand to give away compact fluorescent lights and share energy-saving tips.
“Decorating our Christmas tree with LED lights is in keeping with our commitment to making the Savannah Mall an environmentally friendly space,” said mall general manager Phil McConnell.
Speaker to focus on saving bank processing fees
The November presentation in Savannah SCORE’s Top Ten Lecture Series will be titled “Making the Unseen Penny Help Your Bottom Line.”
Jim Leferriere, a senior sales associate with the Merchant Service Center on Hilton Head Island, will focus on the cost to the merchant of processing credit card purchases.
He will explain how to increase your bottom line by saving the bank processing fees.
The presentation will be in the SCORE conference room, 111 E. Liberty St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 20. The program is free, but bring your lunch. RSVP at 912-652-4335.
Harbour Town Yacht Basin to be dredged
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Sea Pines Resort has announced will begin dredging its Harbour Town Yacht Basin on Friday.
The entrance channel and entire basin will be dredged to 8.5 feet at mean low tide. The project is expected to take about 30 days. Extensive improvements also are being made to the harbour, including electrical upgrades and dock replacement in selected areas along with bulk head repairs.
Orion Marine Group of Tampa, Fla., will handle the dredging. Myrick Marine of Savannah will perform the dock and bulk head work.
“The maintenance of the harbour is paramount for us to continue our position as a premier destination,” said Steve Birdwell, Sea Pines president.
Hilton Head chamber hosts business after hours
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce will host November Business After Hours tonight at Park Lane Hotel & Suites, 12 Park Lane, from 5:30-7 p.m.
