The One Hundred, a nonprofit organization that supports The Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center has given the institution a check for $130,000 to buy equipment.

“One of the items we will purchase is a new neonatal transport incubator. It will be used to safely transport very sick or premature infants from outlying areas to The Children’s Hospital at Memorial,” said Dr. Bradley Buckler, co-director of nurseries and medical director of neonatal transport services at Memorial.

The Children’s Hospital houses the only Level III neonatal intensive care nursery in southeast Georgia.

“The One Hundred is pleased to provide the funds to purchase this important equipment. It’s important to us that children throughout the region have access to the very best medical care,” said Joan Pierce, the organization’s president.

Since 1994, The One Hundred has donated more than $2 million for services and equipment at The Children’s Hospital.

The One Hundred’s primary fundraising event will be its annual Bear Gala on Oct. 25 at the Plantation Club when the group hopes to raise $100,000. For more information or to buy tickets, contact Phyllis Albertson at 912-598-7216.
