The Critz Tybee Run Fest announced a contribution of $70,000 of race proceeds to the Savannah Community Foundation on Wednesday.
Race officials said the funding was made possible by sponsorship support, advertising placement and more than 4,000 runners registering in the race.
The Savannah Community Foundation distributes funds to Tybee, Savannah and coastal organizations that provide services fostering education and healthy lifestyles.
Recipients of the proceeds were recognized Wednesday morning during a breakfast ceremony at the Critz BMW dealership, 7000 S. Abercorn St. More than 60 people were on hand, including representatives of all the organizations that received grants.
Recipients include:
• Armstrong Atlantic State University.
• Horizons Savannah.
• Lady Bamford Early Learning Center.
• Savannah College of Art and Design.
• Savannah State University.
• The Froebel Circle’s Fresh Air Home at Tybee.
• The Humane Society for Greater Savannah Youth Education Program.
• The Tybee Maritime Academy.

“The Critz Tybee Run Fest and all participants, sponsors and promoters work hard to reach our goal, helping support education and a healthy lifestyle,” said Dale Critz, Jr., a race co-founder and title sponsor. “We strive to maximize the race proceeds, so the contributions can serve as many organizations as possible.”
The Critz Tybee Run Fest is an annual weekend event that combines five different races from 1 mile to 13.1 miles to total 26.2 miles, the equivalent of a marathon. Close to 5,000 runners took part in February.
