Yogurt shops to help Tunnel to Towers
Lovin’ Spoons yogurt shops, with outlets in Savannah, Pooler and Richmond Hill, will donate a portion of their proceeds between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. today to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which honors the memory of Steven Siller.
The 34-year-old New York City firefighter lost his life on Sept. 11, while running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center to help save others. The national foundation raises money for a number of efforts, including support for children who have lost a parent, as well as firefighters and military who have been seriously injured in the line of duty.
The Lovin’ Spoons fundraiser is part of an effort to help promote the Tunnel to Towers Run in Savannah on Saturday. Presented by Wells Fargo Advisors, the 5K run begins at 8 a.m. in Orleans Square. For more information, go to t2trun.org/savannah.
