NAWIC Chapter Meeting

On Monday, NAWIC will hold its monthly chapter meeting at the Exchange Tavern on Waters Avenue. This will be a lunch meeting, beginning with networking at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting at noon.

Dave Miller and Bill Patton from the Atlanta Regional Office of the Small Business Administration will lead a roundtable-type discussion about what the office is about, what its goals are and what services and resources are available.

Entrepreneurship workshops

Savannah State University in partnership with the city of Savannah Community Planning & Development Office, will host a series of entrepreneurship workshops at the Moses Jackson Advancement Center. The workshops are for current business owners, as well as those who may start their own business.

• Social Media for Marketing — 2 part series. Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Registration Deadline: Aug. 27.

• Starting A Business — 5 part series. Wednesdays — beginning at 10 a.m.–noon Wednesday or Thursdays — beginning at 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 30.

Registration deadline is Monday

Goshen Real Estate Investor Group meeting

The Goshen Real Estate Investor Group will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Carey Hilliard’s on Hwy 21 in Garden City. First visit is free; $5 for non-members.

Grant writing for nonprofits: An introductory talk

The Creative Coast will host The Idiot’s Guide to Nonprofit Grant Writing, an introductory grant writing talk for managers, volunteers and organizers with little working knowledge of institutional fundraising for nonprofits.

Professional grant writer Dare Dukes will serve as the discussion leader.

Chamber Young Professionals Group

The chamber’s young professionals group will meet at Corks in Bluffton from 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 26. The popular networking group for the 40-and-under set, presented by the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, is a great opportunity to meet with business colleagues in a casual setting. ‘Clays for a Cause’ to benefit nonprofit

Choate Construction will stage its second annual “Clays for a Cause” at the Forest City Gun Club on Oct. 19 to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In addition to the sporting clays competition, the event includes lunch, a practice skeet session, silent auction, raffle, Lowcountry dinner and awards.

Last year, more than $25,000 was raised and 21 teams participated.
