Leader development event includes Savannah

Chick-fil-A Leadercast, a one-day leader development event broadcast live from Atlanta, to hundreds of sites throughout the nation will include Savannah on Friday, May 10.

The event will be available at 9 a.m. at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St.

Speakers for this year’s event include Jack Welch, former chairman and CEO of General Electric; Andy Stanley, best-selling leadership author and communicator; Mike Krzyzewski, men’s basketball coach, Duke University and Team USA; John Maxwell, best-selling author and leadership expert; Henry Cloud, best-selling author and leadership consultant; Rorke Denver, Navy SEAL and star of the 2012 movie Act of Valor; Sanya Richards-Ross, 2012 London Olympic gold medalist; David Allen, author of Getting Things Done and productivity expert; and former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice.

Last year, more than 100,000 people from 14 countries attended Chick-fil-A Leadercast. Proceeds from the Savannah event will benefit Union Mission.

Historical marker app will find sites for you

Georgia Southern University has launched a Georgia Historical Markers smartphone application that will allow historians and visitors to easily locate and explore Georgia’s more than 2,500 historical markers.

Georgia Southern partnered with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to develop the app.

This will allow users who download the app to search for markers of interest using their mobile phone. The app is available for Android, iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini and iPod Touch devices. To locate the app, search “Georgia Historical Markers” on your smartphone’s app store and look for the Georgia Peach logo.

The Links at Georgetown sold to Atlanta firm

ATLANTA — Carroll Organization, a privately-held real estate company focused on multifamily investment, management and development, along with investment partner NorthStar Realty Finance Corp. has acquired four multifamily properties located in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee for $102.5 million.

The portfolio includes the Links at Georgetown in Savannah plus properties in Jacksonville, Panama City Beach, Fla., and Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The Links at Georgetown is a 360-unit, garden-style multifamily community next to the Henderson Golf Club. The complex is currently 92 percent occupied.

The acquisition marks Carroll Organization’s ninth purchase since the beginning of 2013; the firm now owns/manages more than 10,000 multifamily units in seven states.

“All four properties are situated in markets with exceptional market fundamentals and provided Carroll Organization with a great investment opportunity,” said M. Patrick Carroll, founder and chief executive efficer.
