Redevelopment of the long-vacant property at Bull Street and Victory Drive into an apartment and retail complex will start in May with completion by the summer of 2014.
One West Victory will feature 114 apartments, a four-level parking deck and restaurant-anchored retail space. Approved by the Savannah City Council last May, the project is known as One West Victory and will be geared toward students.
The Savannah College of Art and Design has several academic buildings in the surrounding blocks.
Choate Construction, with offices in Pooler, will be the general contractor on the $18 million redevelopment. Local architecture firm Gunn, Meyerhoff Shay will lead the historic renovation of the site’s two historic buildings, formerly home to Savannah Ice Company.
The project’s main architect is Dallas-based HKS, and Pennsylvania company Tim Haahs will design the parking garage. OnSite Civil Group, based in Marietta, is the project’s civil engineer.
