Foreclosure rates in Savannah decrease
Foreclosure rates in Savannah decreased for the month of June over the same period last year, according to newly released information from CoreLogic, a financial data reporting firm.
The CoreLogic data indicate the rate of Savannah area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 1.54 percent for the month of June 2012, a decrease of 0.28 percentage points from June 2011 when the rate was 1.82 percent.
Foreclosure activity in Savannah was lower than the national foreclosure rate, which was 3.27 percent for June 2012.
Also in Savannah, the mortgage delinquency rate decreased. According to data for the month of June, 5.88 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent compared to 5.99 percent for the same period last year.
United Way 2012 campaign kickoff scheduled
The United Way of the Coastal Empire will hold its 2012 campaign kick-off on Sept. 6 to officially mark the beginning of fundraising efforts in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties.
Highlights will include announcement of the four-county fundraising goal, recognition of campaign cabinet members and loaned associates and results of pacesetters’ corporate campaign already in progress.
This year’s United Way Campaign is chaired by Sam McCachern, senior vice president of Thomas & Hutton.
The event will begin at 11:45 a.m. in the Martin Luther King Jr. Arena at the Savannah Civic Center. The cost is $15 per person or $240 for a table of 16.
